Andy was instrumental, along with Sharon and Lin Shehdan, in getting us into our church home.
Nancy Davison - President
Nancy moved to Raleigh from Albany, New York when she was 11 years old and has been here most of her life. She has two adult children and two grandchildren, all living in Raleigh. When she attended a service at UCR for the first time in 1991, she knew she had found her spiritual home. She admires the spirit of the congregation and its commitment to renew the leadership role of UCR in NC. Nancy’s Unity experience led her to embrace many aspects of Eastern medicine, philosophy and spirituality and ultimately led her to a career in Acupuncture.
She looks forward to working with the UCR Board to support the positive direction UCR is going. Her commitments are to maintain the right leadership for UCR, to welcome old (former) and new members and to expand and update programs.
Sharon Shehdan - Treasurer
My earliest memory of my faith journey is of my grandmother reading to me from the Bible when I was just a toddler. Since then my spiritual road hasn't always been straight and level but God has faithfully walked with me even when I wasn't paying attention. I am proud and humbled to serve my Unity church family through participation and leadership on various teams, by running sound, and now on the Board. Thanks to Unity I know that I can accompish anything through the Christ spirit working in and through me if I will just make time to listen to it.
Erin Knight - Secretary
Erin has been attending Unity Church of Raleigh for several years. After her first visit, she knew she found the kind of church home she had been looking for. She has grown spiritually a great deal since joining UCR and looks forward to continued growth, as she puts Unity principles to work in her life and watches the beautiful results unfold.
Erin has been married to her wonderful husband, Will, for 23 years and they have 2 terrific daughters. Erin manages a science library in RTP, and in her down time likes to hang out with her family and pets.
Mary Butler - Member at Large
Mary moved to Raleigh from Oakland, CA after retiring at the end of December 2012. Born and raised in Clinton, NC, Mary is the third oldest of ten siblings. Her loving parents wanted better lives for all of their kids and made it possible for each to attend NC colleges and universities. Mary received a bachelor of science in Business from NC Central University. She worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in RTP before heading to Washington, DC and San Francisco to work at HQ and their regional office.
Mary first introduced to Unity in 1977 when she attended a service at Lakeside Temple of Practical Christianity in Oakland. As a member she served several terms on its board of trustees, and she was an usher, chancel assistant, hostess committee member, and bookkeeper. Mary is very grateful for finding like-minded truth seekers here at UCR where she serves as a member of our Usher team, volunteer for Hearts in Unity, Landscape Committee, and Bulletin Board. She looks forward to strengthening her spiritual practice, as well as finding new ways of being present in the world and recognizing the beauty and peace that come with an open mind and an open heart.
