Melanie Raskin
I’m a writer and television actress, running my own business communications company in Chapel Hill since 1987. I grew up in a wonderful Episcopal church but we always had Daily Word at home (my mother’s mother was a subscriber and Mom brought that tradition to our family). I began visiting Unity Church of Raleigh in 1987 when my mother joined the “little purple church.” I’ve been a member of UCR since the turn of the century. I serve the church as Sunrise Books Team Co-Leader and cashier, 4T facilitator and Caring Hearts Team member. I am blessed; I love this spiritual community and the God we know. I cherish my connection to my church family as, together, we practice the presence of God through Unity Principles. A Radio, Television, Motion Picture-Writing alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I’ve lived in Chapel Hill with my wonderful husband, Jeff, since 1985. I enjoy my cat, Snap; cooking; writing fiction; traveling; hiking; reading; movies; spending time with friends and family; and volunteering at the Carrboro Farmers Market.

I was introduced to Unity in 1987 in Austin , Texas by my husband Ray. We found Unity Church of Raleigh when we moved here in 2001. I have always loved the concept of “the God of my understanding” but fully realized this when I traveled with the UCR Uniteens and YOU to several rallies. To be in the midst of over 200 Unity teenagers is truly a life-changing experience. I have been working in the bookstore for about a year and a half and have recently joined the “Clean Team.”
I work as a CAD drafter/document control coordinator, currently doing more document controlling than drafting, a combination that I have been doing for many years. We live in North Raleigh and our daughter, UCR YOU graduate Rachel, attends UNC-Greensboro. I love to work in my garden and travel. I just recently visited Hawaii , completing my quest to visit all 50 states.

Bob Casey
My family and I moved here from Denver , Colorado , to be closer to Suzanne’s family and to begin a new chapter in our lives. We bought a home in Fuquay Varina and have settled in nicely. We have 2 beautiful and spirited children, Larson and Skyler. With both of us working full-time, we definitely lead busy lives, but we love every minute of it! We are truly blessed!
I work in the exciting world of IT as the Sales Manager for WorkSmart, a Durham-based full-service IT solutions provider, serving the needs of small- to mid-sized companies, schools and nonprofits throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. I absolutely love my career! I get to be surrounded by very smart people and I truly enjoy consulting with companies to provide for their IT needs.
Suzanne and I discovered Unity while living in Boulder , Colorado . We attended Unity Church of Boulder and loved the message, the principles and the movement. At UCR I help run the sound booth and serve as an usher, both of which I am enjoying immensely. Suzanne is active in teaching with the Youth Program. We enjoy participating in the various activities and classes sponsored by UCR.

Pam Reis
I have been a nurse for over 30 years and have practiced as a Certified Nurse-Midwife since 1992. I presently teach in the College of Nursing at East Carolina University and I am a PhD candidate in nursing at ECU. My husband and I are originally from Westchester County, New York. I first came to North Carolina when I attended Duke University as an undergraduate student and decided to make this beautiful state my home. I am passionate about women's health and am grateful to have the opportunity to teach and learn so much from my wonderful students.
I grew up in a small and intimate Episcopal church and subsequently enjoyed being a part of several denominations before Unity Church of Raleigh called me home 2 years ago. I love the sense of community and positive energy at UCR. The light and love of God is apparent in everyone and in everything at UCR. Since joining UCR, I have been participating on the Prayer Team and Hospitality Team, and I currently serve as an usher and as co-leader of the Caring Hearts Team, our amazing in-reach ministry. I live in North Raleigh with my husband, Julian, and my son, Paul. I enjoy gardening, yoga, reading, cooking, and browsing through antique stores.

Daphne Green
My husband and I moved to North Carolina from Indiana 22 years ago. We were married in a Unity church 21 years ago and tried a few area churches over the years. But we found our first church home here at Unity Church of Raleigh in 2007. The welcoming energy enveloped us and we knew we were spiritually home for the first time in our lives.
Over the last 1½ years, my husband and I have completely changed our lives. We left our corporate jobs by choice and started our own investment company. Our spirituality has grown to a depth that we never even imagined possible. We were able to do this through the support of Reverend Deborah and the UCR community.
Our two wonderful children have also grown spiritually at UCR and enjoy coming to church! Our whole family has been blessed by our experience at UCR. We are so grateful!
