UCR welcomes the inspiring musical talent of Kenni Hairston,
our new Music
Director. A University of Oklahoma graduate in engineering, and with a music degree from
NC A&T,
Kenni's been making music since the age of 4. Currently owner of K/H Productions, a film and
television music-scoring company in New York, and now, Chapel Hill, Kenni is a musician,
singer and songwriter with an impressive array of musical credits and awards. He's worked with
a number of notable musical talents including Freddie Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Cameo, Miles
Jaye, Elliot Easton of The Cars, Nona Hendryx, and Mutiny (members of Parliament's Funkadelic)
, and was the composer of the theme of the television show New York Undercover.
Besides music, Kenni's passions are racquetball, golf and music education in the schools.
His favorite way to relax is to walk trails or lie in the chaise lounge on the screened
porch. The niftiest person he's ever worked with is Vanessa Williams; he produced a song
with her and found her one of the nicest, most professional people he's met. He enjoys travel,
loves the mountains and would like to visit Mexico.
