Holiday Cards for Heros - Deliver to UCR by December 1
We aren't going to let a pandemic stop us from expressing our appreciation to the men and women serving in the armed forces! Join us by writing a special note of gratitude and encouragement in holiday cards to be distributed by the local USO to our “heroes.”
This year we're asking you to buy and write your own cards (please, no glitter) and deliver them to the church during office hours this month (Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. till 2 p.m.). Don't have any cards handy? We have a basket of cards you can choose from at the church. Just coordinate pick up and delivery of your cards by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. A list of sample messages is available here.
Prefer to go digital with your warm wishes? You can sign holiday cards at this link:
Our goal last year was to reach 300 North Carolina-based service members, and we sent 521! Let's beat that goal this year and lift up our friends in the service!
Thanks for joining us in this beloved UCR outreach project!

Sunset Christmas Candlelight Service * Sunday, December 20, 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. * UCR Parking Lot (masked, distanced, and sanitized!)
Is it possible to make our wonderful Unity tradition celebrating the Christmas season with candlelight and music more special? YES! Join us as we watch the sun set the night before the Winter Solstice, and the shortest day of the year.
Our holy (and wholly beautiful!) afternoon outdoor service is a blend of special music, readings, and caroling. It ends with letting our lights shine with candles to bridge the transition from daylight to evening, and to celebrate the dawn of the Christ consciousness within, born anew in each of us. We are the light of the world (literally!) that night. Join us for this short, sacred service. It will be a transformative experience that prepares you for a spiritual and peaceful Christmas.
Burning Bowl Service * Sunday, January 3 * 10:30 a.m. Releasing and Affirming Service on the website and 11:15 Burning Bowl/White Stone Ceremony via Zoom
The New Year in Unity signifies a letting go of old ideas and ways of doing things that no longer serve us, and a rebirth of a bright, new consciousness – the powerful Christ Consciousness that dwells in all of us and brings us our good. And this is REALLY one of those years! So, we’re doing our Burning Bowl service completely differently...and we think it’s going to be completely wonderful!
Bring your New Year’s Resolutions to glorious life and be ready to step out on our journey into 2020, ready and willing to embrace all the good that Spirit has to offer – prosperity, health, loving relationships, peace and meaning. This sacred and moving service gives us a chance to release the old and begin anew, fresh in faith and hope and love.
The Burning Bowl service will take place in two parts. First, tune in to our regular church service church service on the website (unitychurchofraleigh.org). Our theme is Releasing and Affirming. At 11:15, join us via Zoom for the burning bowl/white stone portion of the service. We invite you to find your own “white stone”–a rock, seashell, or stick from your yard (it can even be your white stone from a previous service) and join us with your list of thoughts, behaviors, and ways of being that no longer serve, ready to set them to flame...metaphorically and with your own match! Come with your written list of aspirations and hopes for 2021 as well–these are your heart’s desires for the New Year. We will bless them and invite you to lovingly store them till December 2021. We are excited about our new twist on a beloved tradition and hope you’ll join us!
Login details for the Zoom Burning Bowl portion of the service will be on the website Sunday morning, January 3.
